Robot-Assisted Surgical Expertise

New technologies have transformed how procedures of the lungs and esophagus are being performed. Northside was one of the first hospitals in Georgia to use minimally invasive techniques for thoracic surgery. Robotic surgery is a much less invasive alternative to traditional open surgeries. The technology allows surgeons to treat patients with minimal trauma to the chest wall and ribs. Robotic surgery is performed at Northside for lung and esophageal cancers, providing a shorter hospital stay, fewer complications, and easier recovery compared to an open procedure. Northside was one of the first hospitals in Georgia to use robotics for thoracic surgery.
