Urodiagnostic Center

A simple sneeze, laugh, or cough can cause a loss of bladder control, making millions of Americans scramble to find the nearest bathroom. Bladder control and other urinary issues can create many challenges to an active lifestyle. Lack of urinary control, also known as incontinence, is very common, especially in women. However, modern advances in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence and lower urinary tract disorders can help you regain control and freedom.

Northside Urodiagnostic Center provides an integrated treatment approach – utilizing specialized expertise, sophisticated diagnostic techniques, and individualized treatment plans – to effectively diagnose and treat urinary incontinence as well as other lower urinary tract disorders for both men and women.

Types of Urinary Incontinence

  • Stress Incontinence – Urine loss during physical activity that increases abdominal pressure (e.g. leakage when coughing, laughing, or lifting heavy objects)
  • Urge Incontinence (also known as overactive bladder) – Urine loss with urgent need to void and involuntary bladder contraction
  • Mixed Incontinence – A combination of stress and urge incontinence
  • Overflow – occurs when you are unable to empty your bladder completely, leading to “overflow,” which causes unexpected leakage; more common in people with disorders that affect the nerve supply, originating in the upper portion of the spinal cord, and older men with BPH

Diagnosis and Treatment

The Northside Urodiagnostic Center offers many services, including non-surgical treatment options, for both men and women including:

Video urodynamics is a combination of X-ray imaging and pressure-flow testing, which can significantly improve diagnostic accuracy. The technology records the function of the bladder and urethra, which helps our specialists better understand your symptoms.

All urodiagnostics services are provided in one comfortable location – Northside Urodiagnostic Center at Meridian Mark – and are available to any patient with a physician referral, even if you are referred from outside of the Northside Hospital system. Lifts are available for compromised patients.

The Northside Urodiagnostic Center is staffed by all-female, registered nurses, who provide a one-on-one approach to care. Most tests only take an hour and all are read by board-certified urologists. Staff also are available via phone for additional support during treatment. Interpreters are available.

When surgery is needed, the Northside Urodiagnostic Center can help refer you to one of Northside's nationally renowned surgeons in urological and urological gynecology laparoscopy.
