Today, the American Lung Association in Georgia announced that Northside Hospital has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Atlanta LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, happening on December 4 at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta.
For the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, participants will run or walk a 5K to help raise awareness and funds to end lung cancer and lung disease. Last year, the event was held virtually during the month of November for the safety of participants, volunteers, and staff. For this year’s event, the organization will implement extensive safety measures for participants, and is also offering a “Walk Your Way” option for those who are not able to make the in-person event.
“Right now, lung health is more important than ever, so we are honored to support the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, which provides critical funding for lung cancer research and supports local programs to help people living with lung disease,” said Dr. Howard Silverboard, Medical Director of Thoracic Oncology and the Lung Cancer Screening Program for Northside Hospital. “We hope to see our community come together on December 4 for a fun and inspiring event!”

“By supporting our LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, Northside Hospital has joined us in our mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, research and advocacy,” said Rochelle Smalls, executive director of the Lung Association. “Their support helps us end lung disease and lung cancer here in Atlanta and across the nation.”
