Northside Hospital is committed to expanding access to leading health care across Georgia. The health system announces the following network updates.

Northside’s Dr. Lalitha C. Medepalli, noninvasive cardiology, has become the first physician in the Atlanta region, just the second in Georgia, to receive board certification in cardio-oncology.

Dr. Medepalli serves as chair of the cardio-oncology task force at Northside Hospital.

According to the International Cardio-Oncology Society (IC-OS), the aim of the certification testing process is to establish an advanced level of commitment, education and clinical experience in cardio-oncology that is common among IC-OS certified clinicians.

“This should provide patients and clinicians assurance that patients seeing IC-OS Certified cardio-oncologists are receiving care from physicians who have attained a superior state of the art level of knowledge and clinical experience in cardio-oncology and have committed to maintaining that level of competence,” the organization said.

Northside Peachtree Corners Primary Care welcomes Dr. Stephanie Baker

She began seeing patients at the Peachtree Corners location on March 1.

Dr. Baker is a board-certified physician and specializes in family medicine. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia of Augusta University and completed her residency in family medicine at St. Anthony’s North Family Medicine. She has been practicing for nearly five years and believes that a patient doctor relationship should be like a team.

“Together with my medical knowledge and the patient’s intuition and knowledge about their own body I believe in finding a solution to their ailment in a collaborative fashion,” said Dr. Baker. “I find this approach allows the patient to take control of their own health and allows them to better advocate for their own health care needs."

Dr. Baker says that she chose family medicine because she believes in the power of preventative medicine. Having the opportunity to find a solution to a patient’s health concerns and seeing the joy that a patient gets knowing that they can and will feel better—is very rewarding to me.
