Through consistent quality standards of care, Northside Hospital has an unwavering focus on advancing the health and wellness of the communities it serves. Northside’s employees and physicians and their efforts to deliver safe, high-quality care have earned multiple awards and recognitions over the past quarter.

Northside Cardio-Oncology Program named Gold Center of Excellence

The Cardio-Oncology Program at Northside Hospital received gold standard Centers of Excellence Certification from the International Cardio-Oncology Society (IC-OS).

IC-OS defines a Center of Excellence as “a Program within a health care institution that is assembled to supply an exceptionally high concentration of expertise and related resources centered on a particular area of medicine, delivering associated care in a comprehensive, interdisciplinary fashion to afford the best patient outcomes possible.” Learn more about IC-OS Centers of Excellence.

Northside’s Cardio-Oncology Program is one of only 27 in the country certified at the gold level, the highest award available from IC-OS. The program is dedicated to improving overall cancer care and lowering a patient’s risk of possible cardiac (heart) complications during cancer treatment.

All Northside Hospitals receive Emergency Cardiac Care Center designation

All five Northside Hospital campuses received Emergency Cardiac Care Center (ECCC) designations from the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH): Northside Hospital Gwinnett (Level I); Northside Hospital Atlanta, Forsyth, Cherokee (Level II); and Northside Hospital Duluth (Level III).

According to the Northside Hospital Heart Institute, ECCC designation “underscores our commitment to cardiac care, showcases our capabilities to emergency medical services (EMS), and assists with performance improvement and outcomes.”

Having an ECCC designation enables EMS to know what cardiac resources hospitals have, so they can ensure patients receive proper treatment at the right location. These designations represent huge accomplishments for Northside as the hospital continues its commitment to providing excellence at heart.
