Northside hospitals honored for Outstanding Patient Experience
Northside Cherokee and Northside Forsyth have been recognized for being among the best hospitals in the nation for patient experience.
Healthgrades, the leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals, awarded the hospitals its 2023 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. The two Northside hospitals are among only four Georgia hospitals to receive the award this year and have consistently been recognized for patient experience every year since 2018.

The 2023 award recipients are among the top 15% of U.S. hospitals that provide a best-in-class hospital experience for patients during the January 2021 through December 2021 study period.
Northside Atlanta recognized for coronary intervention excellence
Northside Hospital Atlanta was recognized by Healthgrades with the 2023 Coronary Intervention Excellence Award for Superior clinical outcomes in coronary intervention procedures (angioplasty with stent).
Northside Forsyth earns consecutive certifications for joint replacement surgery
Northside Hospital Forsyth once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Certification.
The hospital also was recognized in 2023 by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals™ for Joint Replacement for the fifth consecutive year and received the America’s 100 Best hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery and Surgical Care Excellence awards.
In addition, Northside Forsyth rated "high performing" for both hip replacement and knee replacement in U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-23 Best Hospitals rankings.
Northside Cherokee certified for bariatric surgery
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) awarded a three-year Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) accreditation to Northside Cherokee for its Surgery and Weight Management program.
MBSAQIP accredits inpatient and outpatient bariatric surgery centers in the U.S. and Canada that have undergone an independent, voluntary and rigorous peer evaluation in accordance with nationally recognized bariatric surgical standards.
Northside Cherokee joins Northside in Atlanta, Duluth and Forsyth, which previously have received MBSAQIP accreditation.
Northside BMT Program again beats expected survival outcomes by wide margin
The Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program at Northside Hospital Cancer Institute — one of the largest and most comprehensive bone marrow transplant programs in the Southeast — again has been recognized as having among the very best survival outcomes in the U.S. for bone marrow transplants.
It's the 14th consecutive year (2009-22) for the Northside BMT Program to earn this recognition. No other transplant program in the nation has achieved this milestone.
Northside ranked among 'best' HR teams
Northside was recognized by the workplace culture and compensation monitoring site Comparably in the first quarter of 2023 as one of the 50 Best HR Teams among top large employers (more than 500 employees) across the United States.
