What is the status of the new Northside Hospital building in Lawrenceville?
Although Northside Hospital Gwinnett’s expansion in Lawrenceville still has a long way to go before it’s finished, a key part of that effort is in the process of opening its doors to patients.
The new parking deck and medical office building at the hospital opened after Northside received a certificate of occupancy in May and tenants are now in the process of moving into the office building. That move-in process is going to take some time to complete, however, with Northside officials saying they don’t expect to have everyone moved in until early next year.
Still, Northside officials see the opening of some of the building’s tenants as a major milestone in the expansion effort.
“We’re very excited to open it and we’re thrilled and can’t wait to get the rest of it built out and have it fully open in early 2024,” said Charlie Dickhaus, who is the senior vice president of Northside’s real estate partner, Realty Trust Group. “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been working on this overall project for probably two years so a lot of work goes into the designing of and thinking through and obviously the construction piece as well, so we’re very excited about it.”
The five-story medical office building has 145,000 square feet of space while the parking deck can fit about 1,800 vehicles. Dickhaus said the building was designed to be convenient for patients who visit it for care.
Ultimately, Northside expects to have 12 to 15 medical groups in the building once all of the spaces are built out and occupied. The final number will depend on how much space will be needed by potential tenants who have not signed up to be in the building. ...
