Northside hospitals have been named by U.S. News & World Report to its 2023-2024 Best Hospitals. The rankings assist patients and their doctors in choosing the right hospital for them.
All Northside hospitals ranked among the top 10 hospitals in Georgia.
- No. 4 - Northside Hospital Atlanta (tie)
- No. 9 - Northside Hospital Cherokee
- No. 10 - Northside Hospital Forsyth (tie)
- No. 10 - Northside Hospital Gwinnett (tie)*
*Northside Hospital Gwinnett includes Northside Hospital Duluth.
Northside hospitals also were named as High Performing across multiple procedures and conditions on the annual Best Hospitals list. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
- Northside Hospital Atlanta rated ‘high performing’ in 15 adult specialties, procedures and conditions, including kidney failure, ovarian cancer surgery, uterine cancer surgery and one new condition: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
- Northside Hospital Cherokee rated high performing in 11 adult procedures and conditions such as back surgery (spinal fusion), heart attack, hip replacement and prostate cancer surgery.
- Northside Hospital Forsyth rated high performing in diabetes, heart failure, knee replacement, lung cancer surgery and seven other procedures and conditions.
- Northside Hospital Gwinnett rated high performing in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, pneumonia and stroke, among others.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.
“For 34 years, U.S. News has provided data-informed rankings to help patients and their doctors find the best hospital to treat their illness or condition,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “Fewer than half of evaluated hospitals earned any High Performing rating. Hospitals that are High Performing have excelled in providing high quality care in specific procedures and/or conditions.”
