Northside Hospital Cancer Institute welcomes Dr. Chunzhi Xia; Dr. Amelia Zelnak joins statewide research board
Dr. Chunzhi Xia began seeing patients Aug. 1 at Georgia Cancer Specialists in Cumming. She is a board-certified physician in medical oncology and hematology with over a decade of experience. She specializes in breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, hematologic malignancies and benign hematology. Learn more.

Northside Hospital Heart Institute welcomes new providers
Dr. Anita Bhandiwad is board-certified in cardiology with nearly 25 years of experience in cardiac imaging and consultative cardiology. She has expertise in a broad range of conditions including coronary artery disease, women’s heart disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure and atrial fibrillation. She is seeing patients at Northside Heart.
Dr. Fahed Darmoch is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in non-invasive cardiology, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and echocardiography. Dr. Darmoch chose to enter cardiology because of his deep fascination with the intricate workings of the human heart and the profound impact that cardiovascular health has on individuals. He sees patients at Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute.
Dr. Colin O’Brien is a board-certified physician in general cardiology. He uses cutting-edge diagnostics and evidence-based guidelines to treat his patients while incorporating the patient’s preferences and concerns into the treatment plan. In addition to general cardiology, he also has experience in managing valvular and structural heart disease. He sees patients at Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute.
Dr. Michael Yin is a driven and dedicated cardiology physician with expertise in interventional cardiology, cardiogenic shock, and advanced heart failure. He feels that he is in a field where he can truly make a difference by using evidence-based medicine to coach his patients to better health and longer life. He sees patients at Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute.

Dr. Daniel Nicholson joins Northside Hospital Orthopedic Institute – Sports Medicine
Dr. Daniel Nicholson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in sports medicine. He specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee, and maintains a special interest in preventing and treating ACL injuries, and in cartilage restoration procedures. He is seeing patients in Woodstock and Canton.

Northside expands primary care network
Dr. Diego F. Herrera has joined Newtown Medical Associates in Alpharetta. A true Atlanta native, Dr. Herrera was born at Northside Hospital Atlanta and raised in Alpharetta. He is board certified in family medicine, osteopathic family medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
Dr. Arati Joshi has joined Northside Gwinnett Primary Care in Lawrenceville. She is a board-certified physician in internal medicine with more than 30 years of experience. She has been treating patients in Gwinnett County since 2005.
Dr. Debra Spears has joined Academic Internal Medicine Partners in Lawrenceville. She is a rising physician in internal medicine with over half a decade of experience. She also has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions in adults and has specific interests in bedside ultrasound and procedures, osteopathic manipulative treatment and women’s health.

Northside surgeons featured in Atlanta Medicine
The latest issue of Atlanta Medicine, the journal of the Medical Association of Atlanta, features editorial written by several Northside surgeons, including Dr. Wayne Ambroze, Dr. Shady M. Eldaif, Dr. Srinivasa Gorjala and Dr. Malini D. Sur. Dr. Eddie K. Abdalla was the guest editor of the issue which focused on gastrointestinal surgery. Read the magazine.
