Northside Hospital Cherokee earned the Mended Hearts Hospital of the Year award for the Southern Region.
Mended Hearts Inc. held its annual awards program Saturday, June 24, at its new headquarters in Leesburg, Georgia.
The organization’s members across the nation submitted nominations in 10 different categories. President Don Hicks of Mended Hearts Chapter 420 in Canton nominated Northside Cherokee for the Hospital of the Year award.
“The criteria for this award was to recognize a hospital that has demonstrated outstanding participation in the mission and values of Mended Hearts in partnership with a chapter in its area and provided support and education to its members and surpassing the standards set by Mended Hearts Inc.,” Hicks said.
“When the winners were announced, Northside Hospital Cherokee won the Hospital of the Year for the Southern Region of the United States.”
Mended Hearts is a nonprofit which functions as a support group for people suffering from heart disease. Members of the Northside Hospital Cherokee Auxiliary facilitate the local group.
Hicks called the honor “a well-deserved and meaningful award” for Northside Cherokee and Chapter 420.
“Since the chapter was formed six years ago, Northside Hospital Cherokee has been ‘all in,’ supporting our chapter every step of the way,” Hicks said. “We are very grateful for all they do to be the best and ideal partner to ensure the success and future years of MH Chapter 420, Canton, Georgia.”
Mended Hearts also has chapters in Atlanta and Cumming.
