The Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals (GACH), which represents not-for-profit hospitals in Georgia, named Northside Hospital Cherokee Director of Operations Katie Pearson as the recipient of its Outstanding Woman in Healthcare Award for 2023.
“I cannot think of a more deserving woman to win this prestigious award than Katie,” said Billy Hayes, CEO of Northside Hospital Cherokee. “It is a privilege to work with her every day.”
“The Outstanding Women in Healthcare Award is an honor to receive,” added Northside Cherokee’s chief nursing officer, Beverly Hunt.
The award was presented at GACH’s 40th Annual Conference on Oct. 12.
“For her transformative work on behalf of Northside Hospital Cherokee and their patients, the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals is pleased to recognize Katie Pearson as our ‘Outstanding Woman in Healthcare’ for 2023,” said Monty Veazey, president and CEO of the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals.
Deb Bailey, who received the first Outstanding Woman in Healthcare Award in 2022, presented the award to Pearson.
“Katie worked to develop a stronger continuum of care with local senior care facilities to help provide better, seamless care to a vulnerable population. She also worked to develop Northside Cherokee’s Transitional Care Clinic, to help ensure that patients are able to continue healing and thrive after leaving the hospital. She leads Northside Cherokee’s Sports Medicine Program, which supports local schools and students, and provides athletic trainers and doctors to address any injuries immediately,” said Bailey.
Pearson is committed to improving the quality of life for residents of Cherokee County and surrounding communities.
In addition to her work at the hospital, Pearson has served in community positions with the Malon D. Mimms Boys & Girls Club in Canton, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, Cherokee Fire Foundation, Mended Hearts, Feel Beautiful Today and Cherokee Toastmasters Club.
