Janis Dubow, MSN, R.N., was among the second group named to the Georgia Nursing Hall of Fame. She is the longtime vice president for patient care at Northside Hospital.
The Georgia Nurses Foundation honors Hall of Fame members as exemplary registered nurses who made or are making improvements to advance the nursing profession locally, nationally and/or internationally.
Dubow developed and implemented a Shared Governance Model, working in collaboration with hospital staff. She also led and developed a professional recognition program for staff nurses and implemented programs to promote nurse retention, focusing on staff and nurse managers.
Other achievements for Dubow during her time at Northside include:
- Serving as the administrative adviser for the construction and operational redesign of the Northside Hospital Women’s Center, a 150,000-square-foot facility at the Northside Hospital Atlanta campus.
- Leading the implementation of a patient-based acuity staffing system, resulting in increased labor productivity.
- Guiding organizational initiatives related to improved quality care while serving as the project administrator for the development of clinical pathways, and streamlining patient care operations.
Dubow is a member of the Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders/Georgia Hospital Association, the Regional Perinatal Health Planning Council and Council for Women’s and Infants’ Specialty Hospitals, which she served as president in 1999-2000, and is a member of the Advisory Board for The Ireland Report. She also has served as a delegate on the Regional Policy Board for the American Hospital Association and has worked as a consultant for hospital obstetrical programs.
Dubow has earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Texas School of Nursing and has worked as a clinical instructor at the UT McGovern Medical School at Houston.

Dubow is the first Northside employee inducted into the Hall of Fame, which began in 2022. Nominees must have at least 15 years of nursing experience and have made a positive impact on nursing and health care in Georgia and improved his or her community.
