Forsyth clinic volunteers train for 4 Minute City

AED 4 minute

Volunteers from the Forsyth Community Clinic Inc. have trained to become 4 Minute City CARE Team members, ready to help save lives in the event of sudden cardiac arrest in Forsyth County.

These individuals are now equipped to respond to cardiac arrests with their new Avive Solutions Inc. Smart Connected AEDs. These new team members are health care providers, including registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical students.

"The 4 Minute City initiative is a partnership between Northside Hospital, Forsyth County EMS, Fire, Sheriff’s Office and 911 Communications; Cumming Police Department and Avive Solutions," said Jason Grady, system manager for emergency cardiac care at the Northside Hospital Heart Institute.

"Using cell and network connectivity within an AED, the goal of the initiative is to deliver an AED to a person in cardiac arrest in Forsyth County within four minutes of calling 911. Northside Hospital Heart Institute is leading this program through its emergency cardiac care department and in collaboration with cardiologists who are deeply committed to improving the survival of the cardiac arrest patient."

Led by Executive Director Evan Shoemake, the Forsyth Community Clinic provides free health care access to underserved citizens in Forsyth County. The goal of the clinic is to lessen the gap in primary health care services for people without health insurance, serving as a vital resource for people in need of medical treatment and support.
