When Monigan Astin was expecting her baby, she got advice from a most trusted source: her own mother.
“It means a lot to have had my daughter at the same hospital I was born at!” Monigan said.
Dena Astin delivered Monigan at Northside Hospital Atlanta, and Monigan in turn delivered Wylder Alexandra-Rose Moeller on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023.
“My experience was amazing,” Monigan said. “I made the whole experience look easy and effortless, per what my mom said.”
Monigan arrived at Northside on Jan. 11 after experiencing labor pains the day before. “I was originally supposed to get induced the night of the 11th but my daughter decided she would make her way on her own,” Monigan said.
Monigan got an epidural the next morning and by midafternoon she was ready to deliver. “At 4:30 I started pushing and pushed for 25 minutes and my precious angel Wylder was born,” she said.
Wylder was 8 pounds, 4 ounces, at birth. She measured 20 inches long.
“I am so grateful to my mom for being the best support in that room,” Monigan said.
Monigan said she loved her nurses, especially head nurse Danielle Carucci, and was thankful for the care of her OB-GYN, Dr. Nicole Blackburn, for a safe delivery.
Wylder is now at home in Alpharetta with her parents, Monigan Astin and Tate Moeller.
Monigan advised fellow new moms to try not to stress too much. “No matter how much you prepare and plan for, it will probably change in a couple ways,” she said. “It’s OK to be scared and not sure what to do. Just take it all one day at a time and know that everything happens for a reason.”
