Northside 101: Prostate Cancer (Pt. 1)

Prostate cancer is a very common disease. About 280,000 men are diagnosed with the disease every year.

The most common symptom of prostate cancer is no symptoms at all. Most men are asymptomatic when they're first diagnosed. Those with a family history of prostate or breast cancer and African American men are at higher risk for developing prostate cancer. Current screening recommendations are for these men to be screened at a younger age.

Northside 101 is a series where Northside Hospital experts break down complex medical terms and procedures. Watch here to learn more about prostate cancer, including risk factors, symptoms, and how it is found and treated.
