Since 1979, Georgia Highlands Medical Services has served the community with medical care for residents.
Patients in Bartow, Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth and Hall counties have gotten access to a variety of medical specialties, regardless of their income level or insurance status. Northside Hospital is a partner in Georgia Highlands Medical Services’ efforts to reach the community it serves.
“Our core mission is to provide primary health care to the low-income and uninsured,” said Todd Shifflet, CEO of Georgia Highlands Medical Services.
Shifflet said his organization serves more than 23,000 patients across north Georgia.
“For decades, Northside Hospital has served as a generous and essential partner,” he said. “Every day, just about all day, Georgia Highlands case managers work with Northside Hospital case managers to get indigent patients specialty care through the Northside Hospital Financial Assistance Program.”
Shifflet said at least 1,200 patients each year get help receiving diagnostic tests, orthopedic care and even surgeries.
“The quality of life and ability to achieve self-sufficiency is greatly impacted as a result,” he said. “Northside has always been there for Georgia Highlands and our patients in need. Together, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.”
