Northside recognized with multiple awards for expertise, quality care

Through consistent quality standards of care, Northside Hospital has an unwavering focus on advancing the health and wellness of the communities it serves. Northside’s employees and physicians and their efforts to deliver safe, high-quality care have earned multiple awards and recognitions over the past quarter. 
Forbes ranks Northside among America’s Best Employers, No. 4 in Georgia

Northside Hospital ranks as the No. 4 employer in Georgia, according to the 2023 Forbes survey of America’s Best Employers By State, and is the top Georgia hospital ranked.

Forbes surveyed 70,000 workers across the U.S. at companies with a minimum of 500 employees. Participants were asked if they would recommend their employer to others, and to evaluate their employer based on working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development, company image and more. 


Northside hospitals receive The Joint Commission certifications across multiple specialties

Gold Seal iconNorthside hospitals have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for health care quality, receiving recertification for select Disease-Specific Care programs, including:

  • Atlanta: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Joint Replacement - Hip, Joint Replacement - Knee, Advanced Primary Stroke Center
  • Cherokee: Joint Replacement - Hip, Joint Replacement - Knee, Pneumonia
  • Forsyth: Advanced Certification in Heart Failure, Pneumonia
  • Gwinnett: Advanced Primary Stroke Center

Pulmonary teams recognized

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs at Northside Atlanta, Northside Cherokee and Northside Forsyth were recertified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Northside Atlanta remains the only Georgia provider recognized as a Pulmonary Hypertension Care Center by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, for the hospital’s special expertise in evaluating and treating patients with hypertension. The health system was reaccredited in 2023 for another three years.


Northside Atlanta recertified for bariatric surgery 

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) awarded a three-year Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) (MBSAQIP) reaccreditation to Northside Atlanta for its Surgery and Weight Management program. 

MBSAQIP accredits inpatient and outpatient bariatric surgery centers in the U.S. and Canada that have undergone an independent, voluntary and rigorous peer evaluation per nationally recognized bariatric surgical standards. 


Northside on Becker’s list of Great Community Hospitals

Northside hospitals were included on the Becker’s Hospital Review list of Great Community Hospitals. The honor — one of only two given to a hospital in Georgia — covers all five locations in the Northside system. 

Hospitals honored on the Becker’s list — 153 across the U.S. — are known for clinical excellence, compassionate care, economic impact on their communities and more.


Northside hospitals among best in state, according to U.S. News

Northside hospitals have been named by U.S. News & World Report to its 2023-2024 Best Hospitals. The rankings assist patients and their doctors choose the right hospital for them. 

All Northside hospitals ranked among the top 10 hospitals in Georgia. 

Northside hospitals also were named as High Performing across multiple procedures and conditions — the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. 


Northside Cherokee receives maternal care verification

The Joint Commission’s Maternal Levels of Care Verification program, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Public Health and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, has named Northside Hospital Cherokee as a Level III maternal-care-verified facility.

Northside Cherokee underwent a comprehensive on-site review, during which the hospital’s maternal capabilities and policies were evaluated. 


Northside Cherokee earns Mended Hearts honor

Northside Hospital Cherokee earned the Mended Hearts Hospital of the Year award for the Southern Region.

Mended Hearts Inc. is a nonprofit which functions as a support group for people suffering from heart disease. The Northside Hospital Cherokee Auxiliary facilitates the local group.

Northside Cherokee was selected from nominations submitted by Mended Hearts members across the nation.

The National Pancreas Foundation (NPF) has recognized Northside as a Clinical Center of Excellence for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. NPF Centers of Excellence are rigorously reviewed premier health care facilities that provide comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment of pancreatic diseases, treating the “whole patient” with a focus on the best possible surgical and medical outcomes and improved quality of life.
