Support Groups

Pregnancy and childbirth bring exciting but challenging moments. Sharing your stories with others helps you face those challenges and learn from others’ experiences. Northside Hospital offers parents access to a variety of support groups.

The Mom-Me Connection

The Mom-Me Connection allows nursing mothers a weekly opportunity to connect, give and receive support and problem solve breastfeeding issues. A Certified Breastfeeding Consultant will be present to answer questions.

Topics include: building and maintaining milk supply, feeding at night, preparing for back to work, etc. Open to moms and their babies (birth-6months).

The Lactation Club (TLC) –Gwinnett

The Lactation Club allows nursing mothers a weekly opportunity to connect, give and receive support and problem solve breastfeeding issues. Our FREE in-person support group meets every Monday (except holidays) at 11 am at Northside Hospital Gwinnett,100 Medical Center Blvd, Building 100, Suite 115, Classroom A. Making the Most of Motherhood Free Virtual Support Group

Join us for an opportunity to connect and share your adjustment to motherhood with other moms. New mothers with babies up to 6 months are welcome to join a free 4-week support group facilitated by licensed clinicians. Each week will focus on a different challenge of motherhood. Special Care Nursery

For parents with infants in the hospital's Special Care Nursery (NICU). Group held weekly. For more information, call 404-845-5790.

H.E.A.R.T.strings Perinatal Bereavement

Our Perinatal Bereavement team offers a variety of support groups for you to help preserve memories and understand natural grief reactions. Groups are facilitated by H.E.A.R.T.strings and Northside Behavioral Health staff and bereaved parent volunteers who are trained to help, guide and support parents through their loss and journey toward healing. All support groups are free and open to the community to attend. 

  • Caring and Coping support group – For parents and grandparents who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death. Group meets the second Monday of every month, 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Northside Gwinnett Perinatal Loss support group – Meets monthly. Contact 678-312-4786 for more information.
  • Rainbow PALS (Pregnancy After Loss Support) support group – A social and support group for those who are experiencing a subsequent pregnancy following the loss of a baby.
  • Butterfly M.O.M.s (Missing Our Multiples) support group – A social and support group for those who have lost one or more babies from a multiple birth and who are struggling with the joys and challenges of raising the surviving baby(ies).
  • Time to Heal – Bereavement support for parents following the painful decision to end a pregnancy due to maternal or fetal complications.
  • H.E.A.R.T.strings Companions – Matches trained bereaved parents as peer mentors in one-on-one support.
  • Professional Referrals – H.E.A.R.T.strings maintains a referral list of licensed grief counselors and therapists.
