U.S. News & World Report recognized Northside Hospital Atlanta, Northside Hospital Cherokee, Northside Hospital Forsyth and Northside Hospital Gwinnett as 2024-2025 High Performing Hospitals for Colon Cancer Surgery.
Northside Hospital Atlanta has been awarded National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC) by the American College of Surgeons.
The benefits of NAPRC Accreditation include:
Northside Atlanta is 1 of only 3 facilities accredited by the American College of Surgeons for rectal cancer care in the state of Georgia and 1 of 99 across the United States.
Highlighting our exceptional expertise and state of the art facilities, Northside Hospital maintains a fellowship program in colon and rectal surgery accredited by the ACGME. Our program exposes fellows to all facets of colorectal surgery including complex anorectal disease, minimally invasive surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, sphincter sparing cancer surgery and extensive endoscopy experience. The diverse case load and variety of operative techniques encountered through our program have equipped our graduates for satisfying careers in a variety of clinical settings including private practice, positions with major HMO providers, hospital employed positions and faculty at large universities and clinics.
Northside Hospital’s Advanced Center for GI Therapeutics and leading-edge GI Endoscopy Centers give you all the advantages of the latest, most innovative procedures to diagnose colon cancer. While some services might require a hospital stay in one of our dedicated GI units, many procedures can be done conveniently at our outpatient centers so you can go home the same day.
Northside Hospital now uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology during colonoscopies to aid physicians in detecting potentially precancerous polyps, helping to prevent colorectal cancer.
Northside Hospital is the first in Atlanta to adopt Medtronic’s GI Genius™ intelligent endoscopy module, across its health system, including at all five Northside hospitals and six outpatient endoscopy centers. It is the first FDA-cleared, computer-aided polyp detection system. GI Genius uses advanced visualization and AI software to highlight polyps in real-time, acting as a second set of eyes for the endoscopist. Studies of the technology have shown improved rates of detecting polyps that may be missed during a standard colonoscopy.
